Whipped Feta Dip
If you and your family like cheesy dips then you must try this “whipped feta dip”. It takes less than 10 minutes to make and you can use this “whipped feta dip” in variety of ways. In this recipe I have served this with cherry tomatoes, black olives and gluten free crackers but you can also smear it on toast, stuff into pita bread halves or top meals with it, in any case this fluffy feta cheese dip is delicious.
Feta cheese is one of my favorite cheese, and perfect to make cheesy dips because when you whip it it becomes fluffy and light.
Keep this recipe handy – as whipped feta dip is so versatile because it works as a dip for veggies and breads, but it also makes an amazing breakfast spread, sauce for sandwiches etc.
To make this easy homemade feta dip you’ll need –
- Feta cheese (use a block or crumbled, both will work as long as it is at room temperature)
- Sour cream
- Lemon juice and zest
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Dried Oregano, thyme and dill
- Garlic
- Salt and pepper
How to make ‘Whipped Feta Dip’
- The process is simple – add everything in a blender/food processor and process until smooth. If you feel the texture is too thick for you liking, then feel free to add 1 T water at a time until desired consistency is reached.
- Transfer to serving bowl drizzle olive oil and top it with fresh sprig of dill. You may also add crushed pepper flakes.
What is feta dip made of?
Feta dip is cheesy blend of feta cheese with herbs of your choice, like thyme, dill, oregano blended together with sour cream or cream cheese. You may also add lemon juice and zest, garlic, chilli flakes, roasted bell pepper. It’s easy to make feta dip just add feta cheese and other ingredients in a blender and pulse until creamy. Usually served as a dip with fresh veggies like cherry tomatoes, black olives, celery ticks, carrots, and crackers.
What tastes good with feta cheese?
Feta cheese is originally from Greece and widely used in Mediterranean style recipes. Feta cheese is a very versatile cheese which goes well with spinach, olives, cherry tomatoes and crunchy veggies like cucumbers, celery sticks.The flavor of feta cheese also go very well with red bell peppers, pita bread, crackers, ricotta, chickpeas and pastas. Herbs like dill, thyme, oregano are usually used with feta cheese recipes along with lemon juice and garlic.
Can you eat feta raw?
Yes you can eat feta raw, which is why it is most often used in salads, whipped dips and in sandwiches.
Whipped Feta Dip Recipe
Whipped feta dip is a great appetizer which you can prepare in less than 10 minutes and serve with variety of side like crisp veggies and crackers. In this recipe we are not going to bake it, to keep it simple and quick we are going to churn feta cheese (at room temp) with sour cream with herbs seasoned with salt, pepper and fresh dill.

In a high-speed blender or food processor, combine Feta cheese, sour cream, lemon juice and zest, olive oil, garlic, thyme, oregano, and dried dill. Process for 2-3 minutes or until smooth.
See note below regarding adding a little water, if necessary, to achieve the desired consistency. -
Taste and season with salt and black pepper, to taste, and pulse to combine.

Transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with fresh dill. Serve immediately with tomatoes, black olives, and/or gluten-free crackers for dipping. Enjoy!
Note
Tip: Feta cheese blends easier at room temperature, so plan to remove it from the refrigerator approximately 30 minutes before preparing this recipe. If necessary, add a small amount of water, a little at a time, to the mixture until the desired consistency is reached.
